And rereadin...These posts are so educational, haha. And rereading your account of our truncated time in Berlin did not make me as irritated as I thought it would... BUUUUTTTT that may be because you didn't go into much detail about Day 3. :-P.

• You didn't mention it, but I'm going to: The Great Ankle Swelling of 2019. Irrefutable proof that NINE FREAKING HOURS on a cramped Globus bus can be hazardous to your health. I still look back with horror on the state of my ankles, which was compounded by the fact that literally all of my pants/shoe combinations seemed to highlight rather than disguise how swollen they were. I'm a nightmarish travel companion anyway, haha, but this really took things to another level-- from my initial horrified shock when I happened to look down at my feet while standing outside of that gas station, to my nonstop fidgeting on the bus for literally the rest of the trip in an attempt to reduce the swelling and then prevent the re-swelling (all futile efforts!), to my constant wailing about how bad my ankles looked... Oof. What a dumb day.
• Also, the countryside between Cologne and Berlin is super boring.
• I agree that Potsdam was too rushed. I would have loved to visit solo or as part of a day-long guided thing.
• Man, we waited in line at the Pergamonmuseum FOREVERRRRRR, despite trying to buy tickets strategically. But a group of hot Italian guys was directly ahead of us in the queue, so that helped to distract me. :-P. I also vaguely remember the that the museum employee in charge of letting people in cut off the line DIRECTLY in front of us and I was pissed that we had to wait EVEN. LONGER. to get in when we had such a full schedule for the day.
• I honestly wish that we hadn't rushed through the Pergamonmuseum so fast; it was pretty amazing. But given the drastic reduction of our time in Berlin due to the train snafu, it was unavoidable. I'd definitely return, but not before the altar is restored and back on view.
• AHHHHH, you got a decent faraway photo of the bust of Nefertiti! None of mine came out and I was sad.
• CURRYWURST. :-X. I think I had a comically long sausage on a comically tiny bun, and so it was awkward to eat.
• You charitably neglected to mention that the main reason we detoured back into the hotel was because I forgot my paperwork for the Reichstag, even though you totally reminded me not to forget it... I'm the worst.
• OMG, I forgot about that stupid endless parade of cars! It was so hot and there was so much exhaust, haha. And then I decided to dash across the street and you didn't follow me and we were temporarily ~separated~! *gasp* I'm actually in one of these photos on the other side of the street, LOLOL.
• Those drinks at the hotel bar were good though!
• Still super disappointed about the Jewish Museum.
• I loved the Reichstag dome. Glad we pushed through the ticketing difficulties (which turned out to be a non-event) and made it happen!
• "We were pretty beat." LOL. I think we walked over 16 miles! :-X.
Katherinenoreply@blogger.com
