Cherry Blossom week on Teatime Journeys

This week the blog will be celebrating the National Cherry Blossom Festival.  As a part of that celebration, I will be focusing on green teas and sharing a couple pieces of my china that are appropriate for the theme (among a few other things).

To start us out, I will be reviewing a Harney and Sons' Green Tea.  But first, I wanted to also share some of the beautiful daffodils that are finally coming up all over.

These daffodils are from my parents' backyard; only a couple of mine are blooming.  My dad has probably planted hundreds in his backyard over the years, and this year a great many of them bloomed.

But now, back to the tea.  The green tea with coconut comes in sachet bags.

It's actually pretty funny...I was looking for the tea on the Harney and Sons website and I couldn't find a tea with the same name.  When I looked more thoughly, I found that they had a pink tin with a tea called Green Tea with Thai Flavors.  As I was thinking about how to describe the tea for the blog, all I kept thinking was that the tea reminded me of flavors used in Thai cooking!  Now I know why.

Harney's website describes the tea as follows:

"Our Green Tea with Coconut and Ginger is an exotic combination of green teas, coconut, ginger, vanilla, and lemongrass which make a delicious and distinctive tea blend that is both smooth and spicy."

The coconut is the strongest taste, with slight hints of lemon and ginger.  I really enjoyed this tea--it was very smooth (as promised by Harney and Sons).  I liked the tea with honey and a slight bit of sweetener.

The cup and saucer for my first post of "cherry blossom festival week" is blossom time by Royal Albert.  I just have the cup and saucer in this pattern and not the plate, which is square shaped.  The trees in this pattern look like they could be cherry trees!
