St. Paddy's Day Tree

Happy early St. Patrick's Day!

And of course, a bit of mood music

The pictures from today's tea didn't turn out as nice as the vision I had in my head...but oh well!

I brought some "spotted dog" soda bread scones (with Irish butter) over to my parents house for a small tea party, along with some of my shamrock sets--including my two new sets (the one on the left--Royal Crest, and the one in the back--Elizabethan).  All three sets are made in England.

I make these scones every year for St. Paddy's day, and they always turn out perfectly.  I posted the recipe a couple of years ago here.

I choose to hold the tea in my parent's sun room, where they had left out their Irish tree from Christmas!

There are some great ornaments on the tree, including a tea cup

Irish angels,

and even a shamrock shaped flag!

St. Paddy is even on the table.

And I'll leave you with a bit of an Irish blessing:

May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
brightened by a song in your heart
and warmed by the smiles
of the people you love.

  1. I want a St. Paddy's Day Tree! This is absolutely the cutest and most creative piece of decor I've seen for the holiday. The tree is trimmed with such beautiful Irish ornaments.
Your table with your collection of shamrock teaware is equally lovely. Plus you included Irish butter-the best!
Thanks so much for sharing. I need to remember this tree for next year.
Have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!

  2. O MY!! I LOVE your St. Patrick's Day Tree. Yours is the second one that I have seen with gold garland on it and it looks so pretty!! I have to remember to pick up some on clearance after Christmas this coming year so I can use it on my St. Patrick's Day Tree next year! Thanks so much for the inspiration!!

    Hugs,

  3. I love your shamrock china sets! And the tree is darling. I have a small tabletop tree that I decorated for various holidays - right now it has shamrock wire garland but I think I need to add some gold garland, too. I love all the Irish ornaments on your parents' tree. Thanks for sharing it with us!

  4. What a charming tree! I'm also admiring your shamrock tea sets--these Irish designs seem to be as elusive as a leprechaun! Happy St. Paddy's Day, Carrie!

  5. Carrie!!! Thank you SO much for the most beautiful "tea party in a box" and for each of the beautiful accompanying goodies. When I saw that you were from Northern Virginia, I got so happy! I currently live in Salt Lake City (as you know), but I lived in Northern VA and worked in DC for a year and really loved it :) Thank you so very much again for the beautiful gifts. 6. I married into an Irish family. What a great idea to have an Irish Christmas tree that can also be used for St. Patrick's day. Lets see my husbands name is Patrick! Yes, that is Irish and his sisters name is Colleen; also Irish. All the siblings have Irish names. I enjoyed seeing your posting today.
