Disney tea adventures--The Grand Floridian's Garden View Lounge

Hello Everyone!  I hope you had a good Memorial Day weekend :).  Yesterday I flew back from Orlando, Florida where I had been vacationing in Disney World for the past week.  I had a wonderful time and spotted all sorts of tea related finds to share with you this week, as we travel together to the happiest place on earth!

First, let's start with tea at the Grand Floridian.

(picture taken on the monorail on the way back to the Magic Kingdom)

This was my first time having tea at the Garden View Lounge in the Grand Floridian.  The hotel is so elegant, I would love to stay there one day!

Outside of the Lounge are tiles with Mrs. Potts

and Chip from Beauty and the Beast.

The tea room had lovely tall windows looking out on a beautiful garden:

We were shown to a table

set with china similar to Old Country Roses, but it was German and not Royal Albert.

My mother (who had accompanied me to tea) and I both got the Buckingham Tea.

We each selected our own pot of tea from the large tea list in the menu:

Mom tried the Garden View Blend (a black tea with floral overtones of flowery Earl Grey) and I had the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, a black tea with vanilla and natural fruit, including passion fruit and pomegranate.

Both teas were delicious, but I was partial to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party (which was also very appropriate for Disney World!).

Tea started with the sandwich course:

From the left, we had cucumber and cress, egg salad, smoked salmon, ham and mustard, pear and gorgonzola, and a caramelized sweet onion tart.

For our next course, we had a raisin scone served with lemon curd, clotted cream, and strawberry jam.

Also served with the scone course was a strawberry jam tart.  The tart and scone were both delicious!

For the dessert course, we had the option to have strawberries and cream, a English trifle, or to pick two different pastries from a selection.  My mother and I choose the pastries, and were brought a plate full of different selections.

There were chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate éclairs, apple crumb bars, and the two desserts I tried:

a strawberry tea cake and a swan mango cream puff.  They were both delicious, especially the mango cream puff.

As I was leaving the Grand Floridian to head back to join the rest of my family at the Magic Kingdom, I passed the below window advertising a tea with the princesses for little girls:

That would be so cute!  Check back in all this week for more on my tea adventures in Disney World.

I'm sharing this tea on:

I'm sure you and your mom had a splendid time. Thank you for sharing this special outing with us and joining me for tea.

  4. Lovely tea! The tea service has the same flowers as Royal Albert's Old Country Roses. Wonder if it was specially made for Disney???

  5. Ooh la lah, Carrie, what fun to have tea in that gorgeous spot with your Mom. I was oohing and ahhing over all the food delicacies. I think I would've chosen the Mad Hatter's tea, too. Thank you for sharing your wonderful visit.
