Christmas in July

I went to a local thrift store today and was inspired to do this day's post by:

Ta-da!  This cup and saucer set was $1.05!!! Best deal I have ever gotten.  The pattern is Christmas Rose by Queen's, Rosina China Co. Ltd., and it is made in England.

I've been wanting to get 4 different Christmas bone china cups and saucers that I can put on display at Christmastime.  Eventually I want to get a teacup rack to hang somewhere (I'm not sure where yet) in my house and change out the sets with the different seasons.  there are a couple of small chips in the cup that you can see if you look at the pictures closely, but I figure you can't go wrong for $1 and since I just want them for display...

Since we're on the topic of Christmas, I realized when I was staging pictures that I haven't shared on here yet one of my other hobbies--cross stitch.

I make my mother an ornament for her Victorian tree every year.  Her tree has pinks and burgundies, like this tablecloth and her ornament from last year in the picture above.  Unfortunately I didn't actually finish her ornament into well, an ornament, last year--I just finished the actual design on Christmas Eve (I was still working on it after we got back from getting dinner that night).  This year I'm determined to start on the ornaments in the summer so I have enough time to actually finish them without stress.  Maybe Christmas Rose was a sign I should get going?

  3. I love your Tea Cup; lucky find at the Thrift Shop. Your Cross Stitch Angel is beautiful. I do cross stitch too; and have been looking at Angel patterns lately. They will be beautiful to display at Christmas Time.

    1. If you are looking for angels, I really like Joan Elliotts designs and Told in a Garden.

  4. Carrie, I'm putting you in my sidebar so I don't miss your lovely tea posts. What a deal on a cup; I've never found one for $1! And the cross stitch is beautiful. Did you say you designed it too?

    1. No I didn't design it--the only thing I did was change the colors of the original design to burgundy and pink to match my mom's tree. This is one in a series of four angels by Joan Elliott, one of my favorite cross stitch designers. Thanks for putting me in your sidebar :)
