Macaroons

I'm beginning to wonder if macaroons are the new thing instead of cupcakes.  While I was in Georgetown on Sunday, we found out about at least three places selling macaroons, and, as I mentioned in yesterday's post, the tea room serves them everyday.  By the end, I felt like I should buy some to take home and share with the rest of my family, so I ended up buying some from a store called Olivia's. 

 

I was (of course) drawn to the Lady Grey cookie for myself.  Unfortunately it didn't handle transit well as you can see in the picture below, but it was very good.  It did remind me a bit of Lady Grey tea!  I think little pieces of tea might have been mixed into the filing.  

 

Macaroons have been on my baking list for awhile, but now I feel newly inspired.  I'm going to try and make macaroons.  I've heard so often that they can be difficult, but now I'm determined!
