Disney Tea Adventures--New Fantasyland!

One of the highlights of this trip to Disney was going to see the new part of Fantasyland and having lunch at the Be Our Guest Restaurant in Beast's castle. 

 

 

You enter the restaurant past two gargoyles and a mosaic like the stained glass window in the story illustrating how the Beast was cursed:

As you enter the lobby, more gargoyles support the archway:

The park recreated some of the rooms from the movie--which made for a ton of picture moments.

Unfortunately, the Castle doesn't serve tea (which would be wonderful) but we did get fancy desserts with our lunch that would belong on any tea table:

Raspberry cream puff

As we left the castle, we saw this beautiful mosaic, a copy of a stained glass window from the movie:

 



 

After lunch we explored more of the new part of fantasyland.  First I walked up to see Belle's house. 

 



 

Next, we walked down to a little shop with Beauty and the Beast items for sale, including dishes!

 

If they had a matching cup and saucer, I would have had a hard time saying no to this plate:

 

 

There was also an adorable child's tea set with Mrs. Potts!



We walked up to Prince Eric's castle,

 

and rode on the Little Mermaid ride,

 

 

before heading down to Storybook Circus.  The park had moved the original Dumbo ride here and added a second because of the huge popularity of the ride.  The first time my sister and I rode together I was 14 and she was 5, and the line was short enough we decided to go on it together again.

 

Before leaving new Fantasyland for good, we stopped by Gaston's Tavern (from Beauty and the Beast).

 We had some of Leflou's brew, an icy mix of apple juice flavored slightly with marshmallow and with passion fruit froth.

Gaston himself greeted us as we left the tavern.

 



Overall, I highly recommend including new fantasyland in your trip to Disney World!

Disney tea Adventures--Hollywood Studios

Last Saturday we went to Disney's Hollywood Studios. 

 

 

 

We started the day by watching Beauty and the Beast (which is a wonderful show by the way) which had all sorts of fun tea moments.

 

I was very amused when I saw the tea cart (bottom left) during the "Be our Guest" number.

 

 

Of course Mrs. Potts made a couple of appearances as well.

Here is the wonderful golden dress scene from the "tale as old as time" number.  Unfortunately Mrs. Potts did not sing it as she does in the movie.

 

After Beauty and the Beast, we rushed to see the day's parade.  We were there during a "Star Wars Weekend," so the parade was Star Wars themed.  It was great!

I didn't get a good picture of Darth Goofy in the parade (because who else would Goofy dress up as), but here he is from later in the day.  He forgot his pants:

 

 

While in the Villains shop in Hollywood Studios, I found all sorts of great Alice and Wonderland tea stuff.

 

Here I am sporting Queen of Hearts ears and the most interesting teapot I've ever seen--it had two spouts:

 

There was a tea themed wind chime,

 

 



also ornaments, and special mugs.

After scratching my tea related itch, we went to see the mini- The Little Mermaid show (very good show, and cool and relaxing after being in the heat),

 

saw a few characters,

went on a few rides, including the Star Tours ride (which is Star Wars themed), and one of my favorites, the Great Movie Ride in the Chinese Theater,

until it was time for our (rather early) dinner reservations at the Brown Derby.

 

 

I enjoyed my lamb dinner (with iced tea of course).

 

 

The desserts were really special.  We each got to pick three from the list below:

 



Below are my selections:  the mini grapefruit cake, the chocolate sphere, and the banana toffee cake.

 

 

The rest of my family ordered many repeats except for the caramel custard, double vanilla bean crème brulee, and the blueberry custard shown below.

These mini desserts would definitely belong at any fancy afternoon tea!

We had special reservations that had given us reserved seats for the Fantasmic show (which is terrific!).  We watched Mickey battle various Disney villains including the Evil Queen from Snow White,

 

and Jafar from Aladdin to name a couple,

 

before Mickey defeated the evil with one bolt from his sword,

 

 

 

and the characters from Mickey's imagination all celebrated as they passed by in a river boat.

 



 

 

On the way out, we saw Star Wars themed fireworks that were fantastic!
